SF weather update: (because this information is nowhere on the internet?) misty, no salt water air. Muggy, cold winds, warm (you want to take your hoodie off). Little sprinkles on Montgomery and California intersection. Glare at Sansome and Sutter. Tourists confused, locals mumbling to each other “here comes summer.” We start remembering earlier winter months [...]

People are sitting at Ozumo’s early this afternoon (3pm?) and the sun is super shining. Saw a woman walk into the Jewish Museum on Steuart, with a big bag from Imperial Tea House- had this riff in my mind about how she was visiting from some suburban city for her “day in the City.”
Walked to [...]

Wearing a t-shirt to work, that is a kind of freedom in general. Flip flops abound. No nylons in sight, all good signs of summer. Lots of roof parties. Wore loud squeaky shoes to work today, and they really are loud. May go out at lunch and invest in some new ones. OK my day [...]
Trying to catch the bus, finally got a 30 going downtown after walking up “the hill”. This is the new technique, halfway bus riding to work and back. Mostly to coddle my foot, but also because I woke up late, and to walk to work, get coffee, and head to massage appt., I didn’t have [...]

Today is one of those days where I woke up ungodly late, and still (2 hours later) feel really out of it. The sun was super shiny, and it was hot going the entire walk. The little coastal breezes whizzing down through the skyscrapers, even downtown, were a welcome respite from the hot sun. So [...]
Overheard, two adolescent Asian boys. “Have you hard Mosh from Eminem?” “Yeah, duh.” “It rocks.” “Yeah?” “It’s like, about Bush.” “Huh.” “Like, AK47s and stuff.” “Dude.” Makes me think, at this rate of acquisition, that Eminem should have released his song years before the actual election, not a few weeks.
They also talked in depth about [...]

Got back to walking today. The 30 stockton was waiting for me like an eager suitor, but no, I had to plod along myself. Returning a library book was really the motivating factor. Reality is that taking the bus places is faster, easier, and more comfortable than walking everywhere.
Last night I took the M [...]
Man on the bus, old guy, disheveled hair, tweed coat, a bit of a head tremor. “Show the man your pass!” He yells to everyone boarding the Stockton. First it was just another old guy who looked kind of scared and walked down the bus towards the driver. I thought both old guys knew each [...]
Sat in front of Ricos “where tourists meet the locals” and “english spoken here” signage. It’s a popular bar but I kind of hate it. I mean, what a sellout, and there’s a big sign that posts the most recent military ship to further cater to tourist traffic! Anyways, stood with two locals, an elderly [...]

Trying to figure out the buses going to North Beach required a PHD in map reading and scheduling. I combined it with an errand to North Beach - doctor requires taking the bus for a few days due to a sports injury - anyways, witnessed an interesting interaction outside of Walgreens. Supposedly, according to a [...]
