caption: Monica doing a free throw. I really admire her. One of my favorite players on the other team, I call her “dennis rodman”- she’s got very theatrical fouls, she is foreground left, and Anna, another great player (not me!) is facing in red.
I played last week, and I’m about to get on my shoes [...]

Above is a photo of sailing sensation Emma Sanderson, helping on a test ride with Hilary Lister, who is piloting her own boat, despite being a quadriplegic. Hilary ended up crossing the channel, actually , using her breath on tubes to steer the rudder and the sails.
I went sailing yesterday with my friend Tink [...]

金縷玉衣- Jin lu yu yi - Jade burial suit, with silk thread
I love jade. I just gave my oldest of my niece the name “xiao yu” little Jade. Sounds like a hooker name, but hey, maybe it’s not. I think “silver willow” or “soft ostrich” would be more hooker-sounding.
Last night this guy from Taiwan said [...]

I’ve had a ridiculously wonderful last few weeks in the great summer weather. I’ve been swimming, kayaking, biking, and playing basketball late at night. I’m just loving this weather, and I have some newfound strength from training, as well.
Strangely enough, being physically fit, but not lungs-or-cardio fit (or something I haven’t figured out yet) [...]

Mac got the call from Beth and that detective to try and figure out Jelly’s Flickr login. He went into the office early and sat at Jelly’s computer. Since it was a Mac, and he knew her network password, he could get in and see all the key passwords. When he logged into Flickr, as [...]
I don’t like sarcasm. I think it is a very easy form of humor, like slapstick. You just need to invert meaning, and voila! You have made a (quasi-humorous) joke. People who are very sarcastic, seem to me that they have a difficulty expressing how they feel. I realize I use it wrong. I tend [...]
Been chatting with friends about the Salon article “Why Johnny Can’t Code”. Author claims that because his son doesn’t have access to BASIC, he can’t do the crafty little sidebar BASIC math examples in his math book. Also, the code exercises are disappearing.
He was, as the song goes, “singing my life with his words.” I [...]

reason snot. Originally intended on typing: “reasons not”. Real Freudian subtextual meaning: the mucusy after product of making a (probably bad) decision.
abou tit. Originally intended on typing: “about it”. Real Freudian meaning: your father’s breast, in Muslim worlds. The “abu” or father figure, has a caring, female, nurturing side. But it’s a kind of put-down, [...]

“Ana Ng” They Might Be Giants
Sosa and Beth sat in Peet’s on Mission Street, facing the sidewalk. She pulled out a notebook and showed Sosa all of her work from last night, when she was sitting interminably at [...]

I just finished White Tiger, A Thousand Years of Prayers, and Standing in the Rainbow.
When I’m getting DVDs at the library I usually grab two experimental novels off of the New Releases section of the library. It’s a random thing, since the librarians get the really good new releases, so these are more like [...]
