Wow I can’t believe I haven’t written about this – they’re washing the windows of the Transamerica Building!!! It’s a long endeavor. Last week they threw a rope up to the top (or lowered it from the top haha). It’s kind of an amazing perspective to be at the base staring up a rope that goes clear to the top of the tallest building in the city. Then the other day they were hooking up the long, 1/2 block long platform that they’ll use to stand on while cleaning the windows. Yesterday two guys were standing on either side, with the ropesin heand (wearing leather gloves) as they lifted the platform a few stories. When I looked up from under the balcony, I saw one of the guys on the platofmr using his leg to brace against a pillar. Wise idea? Maybe not. Today they are about 1/5 the way up one side. In a way there’s a lot of protection because it’s at an angle. Kind of exciting. I think there’s office space for rent in there too.
