total time: 25 mins
I even picked up the pace today, and still it was 25 minutes. A couple of locals in front of me. Like the Marina, where the stereotype (and it’s a proven stereotype) is the blond woman with a ponytail peeking out of her baseball hat, tennis shoes, capris, and a hoodie, here the stereotype is…

Foggy Haze
It wasn’t that bright light, but it was an odd haze hanging low over the city. Since it’s so cold, it might have been fog still. Maybe somethign to do with the ground being cold and the air being hot or vice versa? The hike up the two blocks to Washington Square was an arduous…

midmorning walk
Coming out of dentists office, you feel like you have a new lease on life. They take these hard things jammed in your skull and they actually understand it, and can heal it. I mean, never more than in the dentists office am I glad that I was born in the 20th century. Talk about…

nob hill/ russian hill
Walked from Pine & Polk to the hood last night. Heard sea lions and the fog horn! I can hear the fog horn most mornings. Uneventful walk this morning… took 17 minutes to get from home to the start of financial district. Good to know in general. Very steep streets near Taylor/Jones area.

donut shop
OK so the donut shop seems to attract the crazies, or at least that was the Martin Luther King Day special. Maybe it’s not the cool 10-types-of-coffee hangout that I thought it was. I checked, and it does have that many coffees available. The folks on the street this morning: every outside table was taken…

heat lamps at bus stop
It’s a chilling 48 degrees. The coastal fog (I typed fag on accident, which is kind of funny) warmed things up from the bright glare we had yesterday. I’m starting on a new project: write about my walk every day on banane_blog.blogspot.com. It’s like mom’s ocean walk but in the city, going through an italo-chinese…

moondance
OK in a cosmic way, at 9am this morning I woke up on the dot. It’s the time in the midwest when the memorial started. My neighbor was playing moondance by Van Morrison, and my sister realized her snake was lost at the museum where she works (snake’s name is Rosy). Great lyrics from Moondance:…

3 minutes late. Can I get my 3 minutes back?
Yeah it was awful yesterday. Got up, thought I was pretty organized, got in car, it was raining horribly. Took off towards the airport, horrible condiitions, ended up going about 30mph on 280, no less. Decided on short term since I was running late, parked a bit farther away than ideal (bad signs), then walked…

alzheimers….
Last night saw Closer – great movie – but on the way there, in the parking lot, with the ticket, sitting down, finding candy, etc. I felt like I had some form of Alzheimers. I couldn’t read the ticket right to find out the auditorium number, I put my candy bar in my purse but…

boring advice
Yeah, it’s ever more true that sleep, good food and exercise help to make you feel and look good. It’s that basic thing. Well it’s true through practice, got a lot of sleep this weekend, ate better, and went on a 1:20 minute walk (listening to Bleak House- really good) and I feel much better,…
